EVANSTON, Ill. — Northwestern University has issued a shelter and place alert after 3 people were shot Wednesday evening just south of the university's Evanston campus.According to a tweet, the university said police are investigating shots fired at Clark Street Beach. Evanston police said it happened in the 1800 block of Sheridan Road.Three people, who aren't Northwestern students, were shot, according to the Evanston Police Department.Commander Ryan Glew said a man, about 18 or 19, was killed, one boy, 15, is in critical condition and another boy, also 15, suffered a minor gunshot wound.Read more: Latest Chicago news headlinesThe suspects involved in the shooting went north towards campus. DULUTH, Minn. — Two boys, ages 13 and 14, who were swimming in the swollen Lester River on Wednesday afternoon were swept away by the stream’s powerful current and took a trip over a small waterfall before managing to scramble atop an island.Passersby quickly reported that the boys were stranded midstream, with raging water making it impossible for them to reach shore.
